For a relaxed family experience, 6 nights and 7 days is the "sweet spot." This allows for 3 nights in Gangtok (including Tsomgo Lake/Nathula Pass), 1 night in a transit spot like Kalimpong or Pelling, and 2 nights in Darjeeling. If you wish to include North Sikkim (Lachung/Yumthang), we recommend a 9-day itinerary.

Peak Season (March–June): Ideal for pleasant weather and blooming Rhododendrons. Post-Monsoon (October–December): Best for crystal-clear views of Mt. Kanchenjunga. Winter (January–February): Perfect if your family wants to experience heavy snow, though some high-altitude roads may close. Note: Avoid the monsoon (July–September) due to landslide risks.

The primary gateway is Bagdogra International Airport (IXB) or New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP). From there, it is a scenic 4.5-hour drive to Gangtok or a 3-hour drive to Darjeeling.

The Darjeeling Toy Train (UNESCO World Heritage) is a must-experience for families. Other hits include the Padmaja Naidu Zoo (to see Red Pandas and Snow Leopards) and the Darjeeling Ropeway cable car ride.
